Mc Donald or Mcdonnell of Roscommon

I am researching the name Percy Patrick Mc Donald born Roscommon in 1886.  On the 1911 UK census it says he was born in what looks like Roscommon in the county of Roscommon.  His name seems to have been confused some of hs children were called McDonnell and some Mc Donald.  He was my Grandfather and my father's name was Mc Donald which I seem to believe according to my mother was the correct one.  His father's name was Martin who was a farmer according to his marriage cert. he lived in Norwich when he moved to UK and was in the Royal Hussar's in 1907.

Cloonkilly 1828 Tithe Applotments

chessie3's picture

I am hoping someone can identify where Cloonkilly is (was) as per the 1828 Tithe Applotments? I know it was in the Monagay Civil Parish, but I am wondering what the name of Cloonkilly is today?  Or was it known by another name?

Thanks for your help,

Rutledge WILSON of Donaghbeg and Donoghmore

Kerri from Aus's picture

According to the Tithe Applotment Books,in 1834 Rutledge WILSON had land at the Townlands of Donaghbeg and Donoghmore,in the Diocese of Kilmore,Parish of Cloonclare in Co Leitrim. His wife Isabella WILSON (daughter of James & Elizabeth RUTLEDGE,nee HENDERSON-his occ Farmer) was born c 1776 in Co Leitrim so I would assume Rutledge WILSON was born in similar era. Rutledge WILSON died before 1851.

2.James Peter Carroll born Dec.1836 bap.Nov.24 1890 (my ggg grandfather)

I know what became of of the male side but Sally seems to have disapperaed when both children were placed in The Royal Hibernian Military School (father died in India in militray service and mother listed as dead). I would very much like to know what happened to Sally and if relatives remain.
