My great, great grandfather was John Dorsey (Darcy in Ireland) and he was born around 1811 in Ballinrobe, County Mayo, IRE according to his tombstone.  He married in Ireland (wife might be Anna) and had a son there (Patrick Peter b. 1840).  They left Ireland around 1842 and went to Canada, spending some time there (had another son Francis/Frank in Canada) and then continued to Minnesota, LaCrosse, WI, St.

My great grandmother Mary Cogan

Hi there,  Brendan sent me a message which I have lost regarding Mary cogan and her parents Robert cogan and Mary Hennessy and sister Honora.  Would love that and any further information you may have on this family.  Mary Cogan was born at cork, Ireland on 17th May 1843 and died in Port Melbourne, Australia on 30th June 1927.  I believe she came out with her parents when she was only an infant and eventually married my great grandfather Henry Dando.  Many thanks.  Jenny Roberts (glencairn)

Hi,

I am wondering if the Reaching Out program may be able to help me with a localised search for my confirmed ancestor Den(n)is McMahon, B 1820 Through rootsireland..com.ire, I have identified such a name as from Cratloe b 1820, His parents names on the ships indent arrival in Sydney NSW 1840 were Denis and Honorah although the Cratloe BDM suggest Daniel and Margaret Frost.

Any help would be appreciated,

Regards Jane nee McMahon

Carrick/Ryan marriage place

I am trying to find the location of the marriage of Thomas CARRICk and Julia RYAN, which took place on 10 February 1847.  The location mentioned in their shipping records as their place of origin is "Drumleigh, County Clare".

I have not been able to find out where this place is, and am trying several of these parish listings.  Recently a colleague found a baptism record for their daughter Catherine, dated 17 March 1849, with the surname listed as CARRIGG in Ennis Parish and parents names Thomas and Joan RYAN.

My GGG grandfather, John Jennings, was born between 1773-1786 and came from Bandon to County Cork. He married Jane (McCalley?) and they had Henry b1819, Margaret b1822, Ellen B1824-1893 and Catherine b1828. He remarried Anne Wolfe 1829 and they had Jane b1831-1914, Ann b1834-1901 and Mary b 1836-1915. The eventually came to Bathurst, New Brunswick.  My GG grandfather is Henry Jennings.  I can go no further back in my genealogy tree and need help.  Thank you.
