Finally we have information about the Lough Gur Summer Solstice Festival.  This will begin on Thursday 21st June and will continue right up until the 1st July when we will finish with the Village Fair in Knockainey.  Events are as follows:

Thursday 21st June - Long walk for a long day - walk over the hills around Lough Gur with a guide who will tell tales and stories along the way.  Finish off with refreshments in Reardons pub and take part in our annual pub quiz!

Thursday 21^st June – Sunday 24^th June – Lough Gur summer solstice festival which will also mark the start of the Week of Welcomes for the Ireland Reaching Out project.  Check www.loughgur.com for more information over the next few weeks.

Thursday 21^st June – Sunday 1^st July – Week of Welcomes to welcome Irish diaspora home to the parish of Knockainey/Lough Gur. This event is being organised by both Lough Gur Development and Knockainey Community Council.  Check back for more information on itinerary in the near future.

Ireland Reaching Out's South Galway cluster group will hold their Week of Welcomes from June 24th to June 30th 2012. Full details are on the Week of Welcomes page.

Knockainey Village Festival will take place Thurs June 28^th to Sun July 1^st. This will form part of the national Week of Welcomes.

   Kilbehenny's 3rd Potato Festival will take place between 15th and 19th August.     The field is ploughed, spuds are set, and Benny, our Scarecrow is keeping a watchful eye, frightening the crows away.  This year's festival promises to be bigger and better than ever, combining theatre, food tasting, music and dancing,  fun and gam

A craft and hobby exhibition from people in the local community  from kniting ,metalwork to willow weaving .There will also be  interactive demos to learn about different crafts and hobbies.
