Welcome to Ardrahan
You are very welcome to the Ireland Reaching Out parish of Ardrahan.
About Ardrahan
Ardrahan Parish is located in south County Galway. Lying just a few miles from the sea, the district is nestled on a fertile, rolling, limestone plain between the wooded Slieve Aughty mountains to the east and the magical limestone Burren Hills to the west. The medieval city of Galway lies seventeen miles to the north and the regional market town of Gort, six miles to the south. The parish is rural with the exception of two small villages Ardrahan and Labane.
Farming is the principle industry however due to the fact that the village is positioned on the main Galway-Limerick road and rail routes many people commute to the larger urban areas to work. The whole area is extremely rich in terms of history and legend with many places of interest from 5000 year old stone age Megalithic Tombs to Medieval Castles, to magnificent country estates and houses.
