Looking for information on any of the family of Eugene Gervin and Alice O’neill.
Child listed as;
Patrick born 11 Apr 1835 Shanlis, Coalisland
On church baptism record the informants are listed as 1, Charles and 2, Bridget Gervin.
Thanks for any leads.
I have a very old family bible for a Grevin familly in my loft. It was left to me by a lady called Greta who was from an Irish family called Gervin. Her first name was I believe Magaret, she had a sister called Mollie and a brother who was known as Knox (not sure what his real name was). She was born in Ireland in 1907 or 1906.
I am not sure it is the same family.
I decided yesterday to have a sort out and thought I would start by doing a search for this family and came upon you post.
Hi Moira. Thank you very much for your reply.
I have came accross the name Knox Gervin before and although they have the "same" name, I cannot find a link to my family. I have added a web page and details below from an Alice Girvan that seems to fit your details.

family name Girvan is from Monaghan in Ireland
"Hi guys, just trying to trace my fathers side of the family. I am from Dublin myself, and so is my father, but my grandfather was called Jim Gervin from Latlurcan. My great grandfathers name was Girvan, but when my grandfather Jim was born they spelt his surname wrong in his birthcert, and now our families surname is Gervin. The maden name of my great grandmother was Knox. We believe my great grandfather was a gardener. We suspect they may have been renting a house in Latlurcan. My grandfather Jim, may have been a telegram boy before he moved he moved to Dublin. Jim had brothers and isiters, but even information is scarce. 2 brothers were called Frederick Girvan and Knox Girvan. Knox played in a band, possibly the pipes. The girls were Nora Girvan and Tilly Girvan. Nora married a man called Alec Tombs. Tilly married and moved to Canada. Nora, Fredrick, Knox and my great grandmother moved to Leicster in the Uk where Noras husband Alec Tombs worked in the gas company,

Sorry, got a bit of info wrong. My grandfather Jim's siblings were called Not Nora as I thought, but Molly, and Knox's first name was George (so George Knox Girvan). My grandfathers name was spelt Girvan on his birth cert, but when he married my grandmother, he was converting to Catholism, and on his baptism cert the mistake was made and his surname was spelt Gervin. He was 40 years old at the time."
Regards, and thanks yet again.
I knew these people as a child - definitely the same family.
I cannot get the link to work though.
Try either right clicking the the link and select "open in new tab" or "open in new window"
You can also right click then "copy shortcut" and paste it in browser address bar.
Hope this helps.
Just out of curiosity, where di you know this family from?
My mum had a bed and breakfast and Greta worked for her. She was working for her when I was born, she was 60 at the time. She had no children of her own and effectively became my surogate grandmother. She passed away in 1996. I used to stay at her house a lot and Mollie used to visit with her husband Alec. Knox was her brother and lived with Mollie in Leicester and used to visit with Mollie.
Thanks for that Moira.
