About Waterford

This town is situated in the south east region of Ireland. According to sources Waterford was a main industrial port for the country as many important items were brought in from mainland Europe. It was important to have trade as both import and export because employment would have been low which would have dated all the way back to the 18th century. 12% of external trade has been given to the third world for people that needed help such as Somalia, Ethiopia and Chad.

The leading company is Waterford Crystal. It was founded in the year 1783. Famous places such as New York City required a lot of jobs to the business. 2668 crystals were designed for the New Year’s Eve Ball which is celebrated every year in places such as Times Square, Westminster Abbey, Windsor Castle and Kennedy Centre staged in Washington D.C. Over the last couple of hundred years Waterford Crystal has employed nearly 10000 people throughout the nation and countries around the World.

History of Waterford

The city is known for its culture and many people from all over come to Waterford looking for information about heritage. The Viking triangle would be the most realistic landmark in the town which dates back to the 10th century. There would be detailed fortifications and many readings of the site in general for the public. Also in the site is a Tower known as Reginald’s Tower. The shape is made of a triangle.

In the year 853 Viking raiders founded a landmark where Waterford is now a City. Waterford illustrates the name ram ford or in Irish “Larag’s port”. The Irish at that time period would have driven out the Vikings at that period of time but founded the cities like Waterford and many other settlements in the country. But the Viking Group were powerful enough to come back to Ireland and re- establish Waterford back in 914AD which was led by a ruler called Ottir Iarla or more known at the time as Jarl Ottar dating back tom 917AD.
