Knockainey Community Council plans to hold a Village Festival from June 28th to July 1st 2012. This will run directly after the Lough Gur Summer Fest which runs June 21st to 24th and will form part of the national Ireland Reaching Out/ Week of Welcomes week.
Sunday July 1st will see the Village Fair at the Community Centre, a day-long feast of entertainment, with market stalls, animal exhibits, club and group information stalls, art exhibition, children’s entertainment with bouncy castles, competitions, wheel of fortune and musical acts throughout the day.
On the evening of Saturday June 30th, KCC, in conjunction with the Historical Society, are delighted to welcome talented Irish musicians including Seamus Begley, Eleanor Shanley, Mick Hanly and Frankie Lane to St. John’s Church for a concert of traditional music and song, aptly titled "Folk the Recession".
Other events planned include a 5 km fun run (bring your runners!), a guided historical walk, access to genealogical records with local advice, a hurling match and music sessions. The full schedule will be advertised as soon as it is finalised.
