I am trying to trace any record of the marriage of Michael GAVIN to Bridget DOOLEY in the Fohenagh/Caltra area. I don't have the date but suspect it would have been between 1840 and 1855. Bridget DOOLEY's father was Lawrence DOOLEY and mother was Margaret LARKIN. Michael and Bridget GAVIN had a son Martin GAVIN and I am also looking for a record of his birth. Any information about this family would be very much appreciated! I have information about future generations of the GAVINS and DOOLEYS that I am more than willing to share.

  • Good Morning. Many thanks for your genealogy message.  I have forwarded your message to the Fohenagh Volunteers last week and I know they are trying to source some information for you. I think they may have a link for you, but we need to do further search.

    Will be in touch soon.

    Regards

  • I know this is an old post but Bridget Dooley Gavin is my Great Great Grandmother. I have quite a bit of information about everyone after that including Bridget and Michael's three children (all born in Mt Bellew), Martin (b. Dec 1866), Anne (b. Dec 1870) and my great grand mother, Bridget (b. Jan 1869). Bridget Dooley later married a Thomas Haverty after the death of Michael and moved to Pennsylvania, USA about 1884.

I too, am looking for record of the marriage of Michael Gavin and Bridget Dooley. Possibly a death record of Michael Gavin. I am interested to also figure out why Bridget would have stayed in Ireland after  her parents Lawrence and Margaret emmigrated to England in 1850-1860 then the rest of the family moved on to the USA.

Any information about this family is greatly appreciated. I am making a trip to Ireland in August and would love to visit the grave of Michael. Thank you!
