Hello, all. Looking for a possible lead on an impossible to find ancestor, Mary Jane Grier (married name Morton) possibly born in April 16, 1811 in Sligo, or Cork or County Antrim. Mary had a brother, John Grier possibly born in 1814 or 1820 also in Ireland. Mary and John came as family to Montreal, Canada in the early 1800's and Mary met and married Alexander Vance Morton in 8-25-1838 in Montreal, Canada. I am trying to find info on Mary and her brother John's origins in Ireland and their parents names, etc. Mary Jane Grier Morton is my third Great Grandmother. Thank you, Laura J Olson.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I did a quick check on Roots Ireland and did not find a Mary Jane Grier baptismal record around 1811. This site shows where surnames were found in the mid-19th century which is after Mary Jane and John left Ireland. http://www.swilson.info/sdist.php The surname Grier was found mostly in Donegal and Antrim with smaller numbers in a few other counties. Co. Cork is not mentioned.

You may want to consider autosomal DNA testing.
