The spelling of Ballela changes over the years. I see a Patt McCavitt in the tithe applotment records for 1834, in Ballely townland. He may be a relative of Mary McEvitt. To be in the tithes he would have had some land, so would most probably have been a farmer.

By the time of Griffiths Valuation in 1863, the townland is spelled Ballooly. There’s a Bernard McKevitt listed farming there then. He was on plot 22 which was an 11 acre farm. That is on the modern Ballela Rd, opposite All Saints RC chapel.
By 1901 there are 2 McCavitt households in the townland:

Some probate abstracts from the PRONI wills site:
Letters of Administration of the personal estate of Bernard M'Cavitt late of Ballela County Down Farmer who died 1 April 1881 at same place were granted at Belfast to William M'Cavitt of Cleator Moore Cumberland Miner a Child. Effects £62 10s.
Probate of the Will of Bridget McCavitt late of Ballela County Down Widow who died 30 November 1907 granted at Belfast to James Hugh McCavitt Farmer.
McCavitt Bridget of Ballela Banbridge county Down spinster died 7 March 1937 Probate Belfast 1 September to James McCusker and Colm McCavitt farmers. Effects £55.
The 1881 probate file was destroyed in the 1922 fire in Dublin and now only this abstract survives. The 1907 will can be read on-line on the PRONI wills site. It mentions sons James Hugh McCavitt and Alexander McCavitt of Shanrod, schoolteacher.

The 1937 will is not on-line but should exist in paper format in PRONI. You can view it there free or they’ll copy it for a fee.
Here’s son Alexander in the 1901 & 1911 census. To make it a bit interesting for you, in 1911 he completed it in Irish (click on the household return option for the 1911 to read the full document. It hasn’t all been transcribed on to the computerized version, as the staff who did that work were not all Irish speakers) :

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Down/Balloolymore/Shanrod/205467/
By 1911, Alexander had 8 children, 7 of whom were still alive. He married Margaret McNeill on 15.8.1897 at Ballela RC chapel.
Ballela is in the RC parish of Dromore & Garvaghy. Their baptism records start in 1823, marriages and death start in 1821. (Not many RC parishes have death records so that’s a bonus). The RC parish records are on-line free on the National Library site:
