Hello

I am trying to ascertain if the Patrick Creevy of Ballymacmorris who died 1843 (refer attached Roots Ireland record) is my   ancestor who was married to Catherine Rebet/Rabette and had the following sons (that were transported to NSW  in 1833, 1833 and 1836 respectively)  John b1803, Patrick b1810, Bryan (aka Bernard) b1811.  These are the only children for which I have details.   John and Patrick were convicted with their cousin Lackey Creevy who was also transported to NSW.

Any information on this Creevy family would be much appreciated.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Unfortunately, the baptismal records for Kilbeggan RC parish start in 1818 so no baptismal records would be available in Kilbeggan parish for John, Patrick and Bernard.

I did find an 1834 Tithe record in Ballymacmorris that showed that Pat Creevy was leasing thirty acres of land.

The 1854 Griffiths Vluation head of household listing for Kilbeggan showed six Creevy records including a Patrick and Peter in Ballymacmorris.  http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/westmeath/kilbeggan.htm

You may want to consider an autosomal DNA test. You may match someone who has more info on the Creevy family from Ballymacmorris.

Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Roger thank you for this information.

My uncle recently undertook an Ancestry DNA test so we will cross fingers and await matches to see if we can get any further.

I guess we must be related to those Ballymacmorris Creevys somewhere along the line!

    Many thanks

    Maggie

  • Hello! I have information given to me and my mother by our elders and Thomas, Mary, John, James, Patrick, lackey and Bryan are all on there. I have little summary’s of all of them and also have a “title certificate” for John Creevey and Joseph Barnes. If you wish to know more or have me send you copies of everything I have I would love to do that. My family name is now Semmler, we live in Australia and have English, Irish and German known ancestors. Some of them being the Creevy/Creevey boys. Greetings and happy new year from Australia!
