George McPARTLAND (We are trying to find any information about his parents and siblings)

Born: Belturbet, County of Cavan, IRELAND

Enlisted in the 49th Regiment of Foot on the 17 Jul 1834 at Enniskillen, County of Fermanagh, IRELAND.

Age: 18 years 6 months

Served in:

East Indies 4 years 10 months.

Eastern Expedition China 2 Years 10 months.

Ionian Islands & Malta 3 years 1 month.

Discharged at Fermoy, County of Cork, IRELAND as medically unfit on the 10 May 1855 aged 39.

A total of 20 years 307 days.

He received 4 good conduct badges, 1 Jan 1846, 16Dec 1846, 7 Jul 1849, 9 Jul 1854.

He is supposed to have married a 16 year old girl he met on the boat back from his overseas duty.

They immigrated to NZ on the "Indian Queen" 31 Jan 1857.

    You don't mention the religious denomination for the family. If it was RC, records for Belturbet RC parish do not start until 1845. The C of I reocrds go back to around 1800 and there are on Roots Ireland but I got no record for my search.
