After 6 years of research I’ve finally complied my research report on the Leahy family of County Cavan.
For anyone named or associated with the Leahy / Lahey / Lahy family of County Cavan, the report, and Notes made on Land Deeds can be accessed here:

  • David:

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Thanks for sharing your extensive work on the Leahys (and variants) of Co. Cavan. I went back through all of our Leahy messages back to 2013 and did not see any for Cavan. Mostly, Tipperary, Limerick and Cork. I will ask our HQ staff to move your message to the Co. Cavan page and hopefully others with Leahy Cavan connections will see your message and get in touch. All the best!

  • David, do you think the Leahy's you've research could be related to mine?  I know your post is old but am taking a chance you still check in.

My Great Great Grandmother was Ellen Leahy (born around 1831, came to Palmyra, NY and died 1900 in Rochester, NY) who came to America and married Edward Kelly.  I obtained her death certificate to identify parents and have little confidence - father is Edwin Kelly and mother Ellen Leahy.  I sense someone messed up in our clerks office back then.

My mom always said Ellen's parents were barrell makers and from Ennistymon.   I have relatives who went to Ireland around 30 years ago and found no trail.  If you know anything that may help, I'd appreciate it or need more info.

    Blessings,
