I am looking for any information on my GGG-Grandfather Edward Courtney. He was born about 1815 and arrived in the US on 26 Apr 1836 onboard the ship Colchis. I know that he is listed as being from "Cavan" on the ship's manifest. Any information on him in Ireland would be helpful.

Civil registration did not start in Ireland until 1864 so we have to rely on available church records before 1864. I checked on Roots Ireland and they did not have any baptismal records for an Edward Courtney in Co. Cavan from 1805-1825.
