Patrick & Rose Doherty from Keelogs, Clonglash townland Donegal

Can you provide some dates regarding Patrick and Rose and their children. I don't see any 19th century evidence of Kelloggs anywhere in Ireland. Also no Kelloggs on the 1901 or 1911 censuses.

The townland of Clongash is also known as Bauville Keeloges and Clonglash.  Is there a connection between Keeloges and Kellogg?

Keeloges and keelogs is the same townland on the outskirts of buncrana. It can be spelled a variety of ways depending on what documents you are looking at. But to clarify bauville keeloges and clonglash are essentially the same place and is known locally as clonglash in rural buncrana. There are still many dohertys in the area. I have found a patrick and rose on the 1911 census living there with their children james patrick and rose. I did find a patrick doherty from keeloges in a petty court transcript 1910 who was prosecuted for not sending 2 daughters lizzie and mary to school. They may have been removed from his care by 1911. But it is also possible that it could be a different family. If there is anything else i can clarify please let me know.

wondering if you know of any descendents in keelogs connected to james and mary ann doherty...they were farmers in Keelogs circa 1859. Their son, Joseph is my great grandfather. ANy suggestions/advice is greatly appreciated

Joseph doherty born 23 dec 1868 to james Doherty and mary ann o'donnell keelogs buncrana.

Siblings were:

Anne maria b 27 feb 1964

Charles b 22 sep 1866

William b 27 dec 1871

I am unable to find a marriage for the parents.

I need more info to check further.

Thank you for the information--wonderful! This is the first time learning about Joseph's siblings. Very exciting.

Allow me to review the info I have gleaned so far.

1. Joseph's birth registration, which names his parents but no siblings. (uploaded)

2. The wedding registration for Joseph and Sarah McGee. They were married in Scotland in 1894

3. Scottish census of 1901, which lists the number of people in the Joseph and Sarah's household.

I trust and hope this info may be of help. Thank you again for the assistance. Over and above family geneaology, I am also fascinated by the location: Keelogs in Farhan Lower. I assuming this is a very small township. At some point I would like to determine if there are any relations left in the area.

I'm glad that the above information that Tina has shared is of some use to you.  A civil birth record would not give information about siblings.  If you want to find other siblings, you would need to input the surname, the Registration district and years (using a marriage record date of the parents as a guideline).

Is Tina the local volunteer close to keelogs?

The reason I ask is this: curious to know if my inquiry about Keelog Dohertys is close to or intersecting with other people's inquiries. Also have to wonder if there are any descendents of James and Mary ann ...or anna marie, charles or william still in the area.

I am relying on irishgeneaology.ie for all of the family information I can find. Are there other sites/sources you recommend?

Hi Iain:

Yes, Tina is our local volunteer.  She would be familiar with the area and with the families located therein.  

Based upon the years of research, the Irish Genealogy website is very good for finding possible family members in the area at that time, and you might also look at the 1901 and 1911 Censuses to see if any extended family remained.  I will let Tina know that you are looking to try to connect with cousins (if they exist) in the locality.

The National Archives of Ireland holds the Census records.  They also have the Calendar of Wills and other sources that you may find useful.  Here is the link to the Census records:
