I recently discovered a posting in "Search for Missing Friends" by a William Harigan of Negaunee, Marquette County, Michigan. He's looking for his sister, Bridget Sheehy (Maiden name Harigan) a native of Dingle, County Kerrry. Posting is dated 22 Aug. 1868 and also states that Bridget arrived in New York in 1852.
I found Bridget's marriage record in Dingle RC records- 12 Feb. 1852 to Thomas Sheehy. The maiden name in the marriage record is "Horgan". It is reasonable to assume this young couple left Ireland shortly after their marriage.
I also found a bap. record for a William Horgan- 3 Aug. 1828 in Kilcummin- parents Dionys Horgan and Maria Cronin. I have not been able to find a bap. record for Bridget- something that would tie the subject of my primary search, William, to a sister and parents.
Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board and welcome to the site!
It would seem that if Bridget Horgan married in Dingle, that was her native place and she would more than likely have been born/baptised in Dingle. It was the tradition that brides always married in their hometown.
The Dingle registers (as you know) are online through the National Library of Ireland, but they are difficult to read. Having said that, the baptisms start in 1825, and it is worth your while to try to wade through them in order to find a baptism record for Bridget (if one exists).
I note that her marriage record is also on the Irish Genealogy website which lists all the Kerry records --however it doesn't appear to have early baptisms for Dingle.

You might consider creating a profile for Bridget Horgan Sheehy for the XO Chronicles as it may be that someone else is also researching this person and will see the profile. You can create the profile with as little information or as much information as you have.
