I have just learned that the family called Forehand in North Carolina, USA, is Foran, etc. in Ireland. Someone on Ancestry made a reference that led me to Teernaboul, Co. Kerry.

My early ancestor was Cronelius Forehan who lived in North Carolinain 1715. He is on a tax list and lives in one area and had several children. He left a will when he died in 1728.

I was happy to see in Griffith's Valuation that there was still a Cornelius Forehane in Teernaboul in 1853.

My husband says we can come to Ireland in a year or two. I am so excited to know a place I can visit in Ireland that connects to my family.

Nice to meet you,

Sharon

  • Thank you! I will let you know. Probably in 2018. It will be an interesting trip to see Co. Armagh, Down and Kerry! I'm sure we wil go through Dublin and Belfast. A dream trip would include the Irish genealogy conference that is held in October with side trips in Ulster. Then go down to Kerry. Might be a bit cold and wet then, but tha't would be alright.
