Hi,I hope to get a lead on my tree! I am looking for information on John Savage B abt 1796 Ireland was a Farmer,all I know is the Family came from Limerick, married a Maria (can't find) had a daughter Bridget B 1815/16 and also a son Jeremiah B1826 HOWARDS TOWN, LIMERICK, IRELAND was on death certificate.. Bridget ( a convict) came to Australia in 1842 later married James Boland (a convict) from Ireland. Jeremiah came out to Australia in 1848 he wasn't a convict and later he sent monies to he's Dad John Savage B 1796 and another John Savage B 1808 according to New South Wales, Australia, Immigration Deposit Journals, 1853-1900.and received a refund later.This is how I know their year of birth.

Howardstown is in Bruree civil parish and assuming the family was RC, the RC parish is Rockhill and Bruree. I searched on Roots Ireland and found an 1828 baptismal record in that parish for a Maria Savage. The mother was Mary Clifford. i did not find a record for Jeremiah. by the way, the records for this parish on the National Library of Ireland site do not start until 1842. I can't explain why they don' have records prior to 1842.

I did noticed after you sent this Maria Savage who has her name as Mary Savage from Rockhill Limerick travelled to Australia on same ship as Jeremiah Savage in 1848 and they both went to Lochinvar, Maitland NSW Lochinvar.
I have looked up BIRTHS John Savage born abt 1796 , Jeremiah Savage roughly 1826, Bridget Savage 1814, also a younger John Savage roughly 1808 also Marriage John Savage and Maria Clifford on Roots Ireland but to no avail
I'm having trouble looking up on National Archives Ireland. I cannot get a lead over in Ireland

Hi Dorothy I'm Bridget Savage's great great great grand daughter. Your information is invaluable! We had always thought she came from Houston Limerick but couldn't find any record of the village. We didn't have any info on her at all apart from the county and that she was an indentured servant. Would love to know how you got info she was a convict. There are a few convicts with the sane name. I worked our the connection with Jeremiah last year - the only other Savage in the area so had to be related. l I've been searching for information on her for years!
