    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I presume that the children listed are children of Michael Moloney and Catherine Daly not John White and Catherine Moloney. Did John White and Catherine Moloney have any children in Ireland?

  • Roger, thanks for pointing out my mistake.  The old cliche' "haste makes waste" really applies this time.  My goal is to find living relatives in Ireland from my White and Sullivan side and to go to Ireland to meet those folks.  I was able to do this 3-4 years ago regarding my paternal grandmother (Bridget Delia E. Tahney) who came from Riverstown, Sligo but ended up in Attyshane,Glenmore, Crossmolina, Mayo, Ireland before immigrating to the USA (Chicago) with her sister Mary and brother James. Many of her relatives stayed behind and continued to live in Attyshane.  In 20 days I was able to meet up with about 15 different relatives!

  • Roger I hope you see Michael's reply and his answer to your question.  These are the same 4  children I have for John White and Catherine "Kate" Moloney White.  All these children were born on "Nicholas Street" and baptized at St. Mary's, Limerick City, Limerick.  My dates may have been off a day or two but I have corrected that using the information that Michael has provided.

  • Jim:

I saw Michael's reply. White was a common surname in Limerick in the 19th century. The White's were not living on Nicholas Street in the 1901 census. Did any of the children stay in Ireland?

  • Roger, I am trying to determine if any of my White's and Sullivan's stayed in Ireland.  I only recently discovered that they came from Limerick City, Limerick.  I THINK the White's may have been in Claire but were "chased" off the good costal land and had to "flee" to the safety of an "interiour" County (Limerick.)   I also believe that some of my White's joined the Church of Ireland and stopped any formal membership with Catholic parishes for "political reasons" and to keep their land holdings.
