I haven't had any luck finding my Irish ancestors. Mary Agnes Farrell born on 1 January 1845 she had a much younger sister, Annie Frances Farrell born about 1857 on Annie's marriage certificate (my ggrandmother) it states Co Clare.  On Mary Agnes Farrells immigration to Australia it states County Meath origin. Agnes came out on the ship Fairlie arriving Australia 1863.  Their parents were James Farrell (farmer) and Beatrice (Bridget) McNamara. Agnes, 16, was accompanied by Honora, 17 (possibly a cousin).  I think Honora was sponsored by a M.Finnitty whilst Agnes' was her father.  Annie Frances' baptism was 3 August 1857 sponsors were Michael Butler and Honora Farrell.  I haven't much to go on unfortunately.  thanks for any help in advance. Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

The surname McNamara is more a Co. Clare surname.

Can you clarify one issue? Do you have the baptismal record for Annie Frances in 1857? What parish? Thanks!

  • Hi Roger, thank you for your reply.  Unfortunately I do not have any concrete proof I am travelling blind. I should had asked more questions when I was younger.  Annie Frances Farrell was my ggrandmother.  On Annie Frances' marriage certificate and again on my grandmother's birth and marriage certs. it states Annie was from Co Clare place of birth, usual reisdence Wells Street, father James Farrell, farmer and mother Beatrice McNamara.  At time of marriage in 1882 states she was 24. (b,1858).? With regard to your question re baptism record, I do not have anything, it was going through my grandmother's trunk of old photos, papers etc I found a slip of paper re Annie's baptism stating baptism 3rd August 1857. Sponsors Michael Butler and Honora Farrell, whom I think was her cousin. Even though the paperwork states Co Clare my grandmother always talked about Co Cork she said her mother was from there, but she could had been wrong.   I am afriad I am not much help. Are you able to check the records for Mary Agnes from Co Clare or Cork?  Ask me any other questions please that comes to mind. I feel so desparate in finding these ancestors. Much appreciative of your time.  regards Kathleen Reynolds. ps I am also having trouble with finding any info on my grandfather James O'Brien from Dublin but that is another story. cheers

I was unable to locate a baptismal record on Find My Past in either Co. Clare or Co. Cork.
