Thank you for you response to my email about finding my cousin. I certainly do understand about protecting family members. How do I go back to find my family genealogy? My grandmother was Susan Cosgrove and I believe her mother was Mary Cosgrove. Susan Malley married William Malley, if that helps. Also, I tried to reply to your original response, but could not do it. That is why I rewrote to you. Thank you for any help that you can give to me.

  • Hi! How would I go about starting a genealogy search? What I know I have given to you in the letter above. Thank you. Sue

  • My grandmother may have been the child of Patrick Cosgrove and Catherine McCaul, according to ancestry.com. Just wondering. Thanks again. Sue

  • Sue:

Do you know the year of birth for Susan Cosgrove?

I searched on Roots Ireland and did not find a baptismal record for a Susan Cosgrove with father Patrick. Also, I checked the 1901 and 1911 censuses in Co. Monaghan and there were no Susan Cosgrove records in the county.

  • I found this out. My grandmother was born in 1888 in Co Fermanagh, Ireland. (Susana Cosgrove). Her father was Peter F. Cosgrove (1850-1902). Her mother was Mary Anne McCloskey (1856-1893).

  • Susan:

In 1901 the family lived in Corbane townland in Clones parish. This parish is on the border with Co. Monaghan and there is a Clones civil parish in Monaghan which borders the Fermanagh Clones parish. I'm confused, however, since you indicated that Peter died in 1902 and Mary Anne in 1893. The 1911 census shows both still living. Maybe I don't have the correct family?

  • You may be correct. I am only going on other search websites. I am going to e-mail another cousin to see what he knows. Thanks.
