I am trying to find out any information about a Michael Fitzpatrick born circa 1800. He moved to Newfoundland, Canada and married there in 1820.

  • Cathy:

Very few church records exist back to 1800. You would need to know the parents names (or a a minimum the father's name) in order to verify that a located baptismal record might be for your ancestor. As you know, Fitzpatrick is a very common surname in Ireland and was found in most counties but in particular: Laois, Cavan and Down.

  • Cathy:

I did a quick search in Roots Ireland for Michael Fitzpatrick baptismal records in Co. Offaly around 1800 and there were no records.

  • Cathy I am also looking for a Michael Fitzpatrick ( my great grandfather) born 1825/30 in Waterford County, Ireland. He left Ireland during the famine for St John's Newfoundland and married a Honora (Nora) Thomas in 1862. Left for Quebec and then settled in Vermont.

    Any connections here?
