Looking for Mathias Flanagan, emigrated around 1850-1855 from Tullamore. Birthdate is 1 Jan 1812 to 1820. He had a brother James who also came. Mathias settled in New Albany Indiana. He married Ann Gleason Russell, a widow who was from Cullenwaine, in Indiana in 1856.Some say his father was named Joseph James while others don't know.

Thanks,

Barbara Johnson

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I searched on Roots Ireland in Co. Offaly for a baptismal record for Mathias and did not find a record. The problem may be gaps in the RC parish records for Tullamore http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0933   As you can see there were some baptismal records in 1809 and 1810 but then a long gap until November 1820. Likely Mathias was baptized in the gap period and a record will not be available. I also looked at the 1853 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Tullamore civil parish and although there were a number of Flanagans, there was no Mathias.

You may want to consider autosomal DNA testing.
