My Husband's great grandfather told the family his mother and her family came to the United States in about 1848 to 1858. He named the sibings names. Margaret, Bridget, Katherine, Annie, Winnifred, Lewis, and Michael Dyer there may have been a John also. The father was named as John Dyer in Winnifred's death certificate, and Margaret's death certificate said her birthplace was Sligo. We are hoping that maybe there is someone in the area that might know of the family or be related. Silgo is as narrowed down as we have gotten.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I searched Roots Ireland in Co. Sligo and there were 66 baptismal records for children with the surname Dyer with a father John. I don't see a Winnifred or Lewis so I'm thinking that your family records are not on Roots Irleand. Possibly the children were baptized in a church that no longer has records back to the 1830s/1840s. Do you have the mother's maiden name?

  • Thank you for replying.  I am sad to say nothing is known about their mother.

You may want to look into autosomal DNA testing. Possibly you will match someone who has Dyer connections
