Since the 1970s I have been searching for details on my elusive Patrick Fleming.  He was born about 1791 in County Wexford and immigrated to Prince Edward Island, Canada about 1815. 

Patrick married Elizabeth Vincent circa 1819 on PEI.  They had 3 children - John & twins Mary Ann & Catherine.

I haven't been able to find their marriage record and Patrick's obituary didn't have any details of parents, siblings, or Parish.

Is there any one Parish in County Wexford that Fleming's lived in?

    Have you already tried rootsireland.ie or familysearch? The period of your search is quite early so you will be very dependent on parish records.

  • Any connection to the War of 1812?

    I have an ancestor who fought in the war and was granted land in New Brunswick.  There was also a Patrick Holmes from Wexford who fought in the war and settled in Perth-Andover, N. B.  The land grants appear to have been reserved for patrons of the war and grouped according to regiment, from what I can tell.  Have you searched the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick or the Nova Scotia Library to see if Prince Edward Island had a similar policy?
