My 2nd great-grandmother, Selina WALTON Pierce was born in County Wicklow in 1837. Her father was Thomas WALTON.  Selina married James PIERCE November 21, 1856 in County Wicklow.  I would love to hear from anyone who is connected to this family of WALTON's. Selina and James PIERCE has their first child, my great-grandmother, Elizabeth Anne PIERCE in County Carlow in 1864!  Thanks, Carol

  • according to baptism records on the free IrishGenealogy website two children of James and Selina were baptised in Co. Carlow, both in Urglin parish. This parish is located a short distance east of Carlow town.

There may have been additional older children baptised between 1857 and 1860 in other parishes.

Elizabeth Anne Pierce bapt 22 February 1860, abode is 'Rutland'
John Pierce bapt 20 October 1861, abode Ballenakill

James' occupation is shown on the baptisms as Labourer.

Partial extracted civil birth records also show a birth registration for an Ellen Pierce born 2nd May 1867 to James & Selina in Kilkenny district

  • Thanks for the above information!  I had everything except that I did not know that "Rutland" and "Ballenakil" were abodes!  Thank you!
