Young Gilmore family - Bailieborough
I would like to find more information on my great-great grandparents, George Young and his wife Margaret (unknown but possibly Gibson) who were Wesleyan Methodists from Gartnaneane townland, Bailieborough, Cavan. I do not have a date of marriage, but it appears that George Young died about 1850 and Margaret Young died about 1854 in Bailieborough, Cavan. Their children were Thomas b.c.1826; Hannah b.1827; James b.c.1830; Anne b.c.1832; George b.c.1835; John and Margaret twins b.1843, who died. I obtained some of this information from Wesleyan records in PRONI and also visited the old Young (now Gilmore) family farm in 1997.
My great grandfather George Young married Jane Gilmore (daughter of John & Mary Anne Gilmore from Lear townland) in 1856 at 1st Bailieboro Presbyterian Church, and in 1878 they immigrated to Australia with their eight children.
Despite much effort, I have also been unable to find more information about John Gilmore (1805-1881) and his wife Mary Anne (unknown) (1803-1883) who both died in Lear.
I would appreciate any help on my family.
A Gilmore Family live at Lisgar which is close to Lear, I know a relation of the family has compiled a Gilmore family tree. If you contact Fred Gilmore he may have some details that might tie in with yours, his email is: firstname.lastname@example.org I have access to 1st Bailieborough Church records, baptismal commence 1861 and marriage 1845, but perhaps you have already information from those. Regards, Les.
Thank you Les for your prompt response and kind offer to assist with records, but as you supposed, I have already obtained a number of certificates/records on this family. Thank you also for providing an email address for Fred Gilmore. I will write to him directly. Regards, Sylvia
