My grandmother. Much loved and missed. Died tragically as the mother of 8 in 1929 from bleeding subsequent to the birth of her fourth daughter, Kathleen, who also sadly perished.
This left her 14 year old daughter Delia as the ‘mother’ of her 7 siblings, and ‘granny’ to my self and all my first cousins.
A piece of her handwriting remains: “Sacred Heart of Jesus help me”.
The tragedy still ripples down the decades but I would love to have known her as the radiant Anne she once was. Heaven awaits!
