Annie Geraghty (1869-1947) was born in Roscommon. She lived in Church Street/Goff Street Roscommon until she came to NSW where she met and married Francis Corley from Co Mayo.

Suva Catherdral FijiThe Corley family moved from NSW to Suva, Fiji so Francis could work on the construction of the Cathedral as a stonemason. This photograph is an original from my grandmother's album. It shows the Roman Catholic Cathedral completed in 1902 with sandstone shipped by barge from quarries near Sydney, Australia. Its architecture was inspired by the churches of Rome. The building is covered with ornaments and stained glass and has a crypt in the basement but no one is buried there. A unique feature not found in European churches is the collection of fans hanging from the arches.

The family returned to Sydney in the early 1900s and settled in Flood Street Leichhardt. The Corleys and the Geraghtys were skilled stonemasons and professionals who contributed much to the construction of Churches and public buildings in NSW and Victoria.
