He succeeded as the 10th Baronet Forbes, of Castle Forbes, Co. Longford, Ireland on 10th September 1948. Arthur had no male heir but two daughters, Lady Moira Beatrice Forbes and Lady Georgina Anne Forbes, the latter who is the current owner of the Castle.
