Migrated to/Born in UK

Hello there.

I'm trying to trace my grandfather Bernard Murray who was born as Bernard Garrigan in Dundalk workhouse.

His mother, Mary Garrigan went on to marry Thomas Murray a year or so after Bernard was born, and it appears Bernard was then known as Bernard Murray.

Mary and Thomas lived in Palmersland until around 1911. Bernard joined the army when approximately 16 years old.

Bernard worked for a Mr Lavelle of Charronrock around 1894 when he left the Royal Irish Rifles and joined the Royal Garrison Artillery. He then went on to serve with the army in Malta, Gibraltar, South Africa and Mauritius before moving to Liverpool in 1902.

My dad was the youngest of Bernard's children, being born in 1933. Bernard died in 1937 at the age of 69.

I suspect Mary Garrigan may have owned a pub on the Ardee Rd, but know no more than that.

If anyone has any info, I'd love to know more.
