Hi Cathy, Bernard Shanley was my great great grt grandfather my mothers gran was Annie Shanley she married in Edinburgh a Joseph William Jones whose father Michael came to Edinburgh from Monaghan ,the puzzle you had about the Henry's is easy because Bernard and Kate had a son Henry he also had a son Henry Bernard was born in 1815 died -- His son Henry dob1835 died 1876 I have the complete family tree yours Charlie Kivlin ,Edinburgh Scotland .

SHANLEY, Bernard dob abt 1816 maybe in Leitrim married RODDIE,( RODDY), Catherine ( Kate) dob abt 1818, dod 7 December 1877 in Edinburgh Scotland.
They had SHANLEY, Henry dob abt 1833 - dod 6 July 1877, 129 Cowgate, Edinburgh Scotland. Henry married McLAUGHLIN, Mary Ann.
They had SHANLEY, Henry dob 3 March 1854 129 Cowgate,Old Greyfriars, dod 7 November 1902 Royal Infirmary Edinburgh. Henry married McQUEENIE, Catherine dob 05 Aug 1863 dod 30 June 1939 Edinburgh, Scotland.
Now this Henry and Catherine had a son, they name Henry SHANLEY dob 15 Feb 1897 dod 5 Aug 1971. This Henry married McVEY, Catherine dob 25 June 1878 dod 10 March 1964. which brings us to SHANLEY, Myles dob 1926.
My grandpap is still living but family history is a bit sketchy for his memory. So all I have is Leitrim and Roscommon as areas my family may have come from. I am not at all familiar with searching for Irish records, but I am wiling to learn and I am learning slowly. Any help would be fantastic. Cathy in San Antonio, TEXAS !
