Andrew Knox (1559 – 1633) second son of John Knox (of Ranfurly, Renfrewshire Scotland) was Bishop of Raphoe from 1610-1633.

He married his cousin Elizabeth Knox. Children: Thomas, James, George, Margaret (m. Cunningham)  and another daughter (m. Hamilton). All of his sons took orders in the church.

He established a garrison in the castle of Dunivaig, before he went to Ireland. In 1614 the castle of Dunivaig was surprised by the Macdonalds, and Knox was defeated leaving his son Thomas Knox and his nephew John Knox of Ranfurly as hostages for his good faith. To deal with the Macdonalds, Bishop Knox  set up a plantation of their lands by men from the north of Ireland and the west of Scotland. In 1616 Thomas and John Knox were freed, and Dunivaig recaptured.

Knox continued as Lord Bishop of Raphoe till his death on 27 March 1633.
