Migrated to/Born in New Zealand

Bridget was born in Breaghmore, Seir Kieran, Kings Co in 1836.  Her father William died and her mother married Michael Brown.  Bridget and her step sister Mary Brown travelled as assisted emigrants to Australia on the Sandringham which sailed on the 9/9/1863.  They arrived in Sydney early 1864.  It is not known when Bridget moved to New Zealand, was there in 1865 when she married Archibald Brown a native of Belfast.  He was a respected Customs Storeman in Greymouth.  Mary remained in Australia but the step sisters remained in contact as Mary travelled to New Zealand as sponsor at the baptism  of Bridget's son William on 2/1/1871.  And there is family lore that Bridget travelled at some time to "assist" Mary in Australia. Edward, Bridget and Archibald's youngest son was killed in action at Al Qahied, Cairo, Egypt on 20/8/1914 or 1915. He is buried in Cairo.  His inscription is on his parent's headstone in Greymouth.
