Carbery Brennan (aka Carberry aka Carberius) was born 12-Jul-1870 and baptised on 18 Jul 1870 in the RC parish of Elphin. His civil birth record was registered in BALLINAMEEN with 22 July 1870 as his DOB.
His parents were Thomas Brennan of Canbo & Honoria Dolan (nee Nary /Neary) of Mullinduff near Frenchpark (parish of Kilcolagh). Thomas came in to the farm in Mullinduff through marriage to a widow. Peter Brennan of Mantua witnessed their marriage. And he invited his siblings Margaret & Carberry Brennan of Canbo to godparent.
The name Carberry was handed down through generations of the Brennans living in or about Canbo near Croghan (between Boyle and Carrick on Shannon). The oldest being Carberry Brennan and his wife Mary who were cottiers in Carrowmore in the 1749 Elphin Census.
