Edward Roycroft (1859-1923) of Tunnagh aka Tawnagh, Sooey, was the son of Elizabeth Roycroft (1837-1907). Sarah Roycroft was his sister (1867-1919).

  • In 1877 an Edward Roycroft (Church of Ireland) from "near Sooey" died. Presumably their father. 
  • In 1901, there were 3 Roycroft households in Tunnagh, Riverstown, Co. Sligo (Ballynakill). These families were descended from Charles & Richard Roycroft who were recorded here in 1858 at the time of Griffith's Valuation. The Roycroft name has endured in Tunnagh to this day. 

At the time of auction following his death, Edward's holding amounted to about 4 Irish acres, with a good cottage. [Sligo Champion - 11 August 1923].

  • Edward Roycroft born about 1825 died 1914 and was married to Katherine "Kate" Devans/Divens. Their known children were: Margaret, Charles, Keziah, Thomas, Jane, Ellen, Elizabeth, Ann, and Katherine.

    Their son Charles 1846-1927 married Elizabeth "Eliza" Seberry/Siberry in Sligo in 1866. This couple moved to Scotland and then immigrated to the US. They had many children, but most were born in Scotland. 

    I am desperately seeking information about the elder Edward and his wife Katherine. I especially want to uncover thier parents's names so that our family can trace them further back.
