Before Betty married Richard (Dick) Stephen Price in 1927, she worked as a stenographer. She met her best friend, Elsie Dowie, in Angus Business College, where they trained as secretaries. It was through her friendship with Betty that Elsie met her husband, Betty's brother Bob.
Betty and Dick had one son.
