Ellen Collins (nee Blanchfield) 1839

Back to List

Ellen Collins nee Blanchfield was born in Muckalee, County Kilkenny, in 1839. She emigrated to Australia in 1853 with her parents, Patrick and Judith, and her five siblings, aboard the ship 'David McIvor'.

On the 31st May 1858 John Collins married Ellen Blanchfield at the imposing address of St  Mary’s Cathedral,  Sydney.

John and Ellen had ten children, living most of their lives in the Western district of Victoria around the town of Beaufort. The gold rush taking place in Victoria at the time of their arrival and for the next 20 gears or so, played a significant part in their lives.

Anyone who knows anything of the ancestors of John Collins from the Parish of Achonry and Ellen Blanchfield from the Parish of Muckalee, could contact me, Mandy Collins, via Ireland Reaching Out, and also via Ancestry.com.
