Eneas McCarthy was born in Baltimore on 24 July 1825 to Daniel McCarthy and Mary Denis.  He was the third child and second son in this family.  His other siblings were Patrick born 1821, Mary born 1822, Julian born 1826, Alexander born 1827 and Daniel born 1839. 

Eneas emigrated to the U.S. in the late 1840s where he settled in Provincetown, Massachusetts.  He was listed as a Mariner when he married Catherine Dorgan, another Irish emigrant in Boston  on 10 November 1854.  Both Eneas and Catherine were living in Provincetown and he was listed as aged 27, she was aged 23.  They were married by Fr. James Lionetti in Boston. 

Eneas and Catherine raised their family in Provincetown and had the following children: Mary, Sarah, Anne, Elizabeth, David and Daniel.  Sadly, Eneas died on 16 December 1874 and is buried in Provincetown at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery.
