Story has it that his son Michael born 1845-1848 was sent to live with his mother's sister Esther around the age of 11 because his mother Catherine had died of the "fever". I first find records for Michael in Staleybridge, Ashton under Lyne, Lancashire where first he marries Katherine who dies soon after then marries Elizabeth McCabe 13 Nov 1869 at St. Peter's RC church. They go on to have 9 children eventually moving the family to Leicester, Leicestershire, England. Their son (my great-grandfather) George Edward Rochford marries Lizzie Thompson 13 Jul 1895 in Leicester then George & Lizzie move with their young family to Montreal, Quebec, Canada. George & Lizzie eventually have a total of 9 children. Their oldest surviving daughter Dorothy Rochford is my grandmother.
