  • This is a longshot, I know. I am wonderimg is there any possability thar your James could be related to my Julia Gough.

I know very little about Julia, except she was born in Rathmaloyn Meath about 1839 and her parents were Thomas Gough and Bridget Mc Donald.

Julia came to Victoria  about 1858, She married  Daniel Muldoon ( from Galway) After his death, Samuel Weatherley. Then  James Weatherley

Julia and James were my Greart Grand Parents. Julia died in 1917

  • Hi Margaret,

I have a THOMAS GOUGH (b circa 1790). This Thomas was probably the brother of my Christopher GOUGH 1780-1829.

Thomas GOUGH and Christina BOURKE had the following children in Summerhill parish-

    1. Michael GOUGH b 16 Sep 1812

    2. John GOUGH b 21 Mar 1815

    3. Ellen GOUGH b June 1816

    4. Thomas GOUGH b 22 Mar 1822 [ this may be Julia's father]

There may have been another child- Edward GOUGH b  circa 1822.

Married [1]  10 Apr 1866 Summerhill Mary KING

    Two children-

    1. Thomas GOUGH b 21 Mar 1868 Rathmoylan

    2. Mary GOUGH b 14 Oct 1870 Rathmoylan

Married [2]  11 Feb 1872 Kill, Summerhill Jane REILLY [Edward was a widower/ aged 50/ his father is recorded as Thomas GOUGH labourer]

  • Hello Leonie, Many thanks for getting back to me re Gough family.I am sorry for not getting back to you earlier.

It is possible that Thomas (b1822) was the father of Julia,He would have been rather young, as we think Julia was born about 1838.

Looking on a map I can see that Rathmolyan and Clondoogan are close to each other

Do you know if any of your Gough family were in Sydney in the 1890's ? I am asking because of John James Muldoon, Julia's youngest son from

her first Marriage to Daniel Muldoon.Thisyoung man is a real mystery man.I cannot find  Birth, Death , Marriage certificate for him.He was a witness at his brothers wedding

in 1891. About 1890 He was involved in a court case, with his brother and sister against their Mother (Julia) and their step father

The next reference is a death notice in a country newspaper 1893 for his death in a the Sydney Hospital. It does not mention his mother, just his father, Daniel.

Once again many thanks for your info, and my apologies for not getting back to you sooner

            Regards

                                    Margaret.
