Hello to the Parishioners of Clonbroney, please find following a lucky first post on the Clonbroney site, regarding my maternal line - here goes:-
My Great Great Grandparents are James John Feeney born/bapt 22/06/1828 • Dublin, Ireland and Catherine (Lynch) Feeney (born approx 1824). Both are buried in the Old Clonbroney Graveyard. I've attached a photograph of the overgrown front gates to the old Church Yard.
Mid 1800's - These men (John Feeney - my direct line, Patrick Feeney (brother to John Feeney) Robert Curran, John McManus and Willam Baird) where all lessees of lands in Tullybawn (Tullybaun, Clonbroney, Granard, Longford Ireland from Colonel Wray Palliser mid 1800's. There would have to be a marriage between one of these families somewere - either before or after mid 1800's!
Does any one know if relatives of the Feeney/Lynch family are still present in Clonbroney? After years of research I'm still no closer to finding anything truly positive about Catherine Lynch - where she was born, her parents - absolutely nothing! I'd love to bring her to life and find out more about their lives together.
Their children were
1. Rose Feeney born 1850,
2. John Feeney born 15 APR 1853 Parish Clonbroney,
3. James Feeney 22 May 1855 at County West Meath,
4. Ellen Feeny born 15 Oct 1859 Clonbroney - Sponsors:Thomas Loughry and Sarah Loughry,
5. Patrick Feeney 15 Oct 1861Clonbroney (my Great Grandfather - see photo) and
6. Thomas Feeney born 27 Dec 1868 at Parish Clonbroney.
My Great Grandfather Patrick (see photo) came to Australia. I think another 2 brother also made the voyage to Australia.
I do not have any information on his sister Rose nor his sister Ellen.
Do any present Clonbroney Parishioners have information of any member of my Ancestoral FAmily of Feeney/Lynch around 1825 - 1875 in this Parish of Clonbroney. I would be very thankful for any small story or facts.
PS I love the name of the parish and the way it sounds when its rolls of the tongue.
