James Jolly immigrated to the United States in 1852. He bacane the canal agent, in Conneatville, Pennsylvania, for the Erie canal in 1854. He married Eliza Jane McDowell in 1857.They had four children in this marriage. Three daughters and a son. They were Elsie Ann, born in 1858, my gg grandmother, Elizabeth Jane, born in 1860, J. Ivin, born in 1863 and Tine Cordelia, born in 1868.
James was a Republican and a Grand Kinght of the A.O.U.W.
