  • Hi fellow Keegan enquirer,

In my search for information of my GG Grandfather, Edward Robert Keegan, a convict transported to Australia from the Longford area in 1835, I found these interesting documents -

Have you undertaken DNA testing?. I have had mine done by Family Tree DNA and have Keegan and Eagan matches in the USA.

    Cheers

  • What an interesting list.If we go back far enough we probably are related. Thanks for the info. There are so many interesting stories coming out of genealogy searches. I have done 23 and me and ancestry DNA. I have connected  with cousins in US. none in Ireland.Have not been able to go back before the 1864 James keegan. It is interesting to follow the convicts in Australia. Thanks for sharing and hopefully we can connect the dots.

  • Thank you for sending me all these documents. They help me sort out some of my questions. The baptismal list has the 1st 4 children in the family! Are you making any progress on Edward Keegan?

  • Hi MKS

I can't find record of his birth, but have his two younger brothers births at Longford (1813 & 1820), his marriage at Longford and his parents death records at Drumroe.

To date I have not used a paid genealogical service in my research, but will prior to revisiting Ireland in 2020 for the Egan Clan Gathering.

I am confirmed R-M222, NW Irish and about to go deeper with a further testing kit.

Here is a guide to the Irish family naming -

Good luck with your research and all the best to your families.

    Regards

    Col K
