Son of Ellen Monaghan. Born illegitimate at the Newry Workhouse on 23 October 1865. Married Susan McGrath on 5 April 1888 and had nine children in 18 years. Served in the Royal Irish Fusiliers. Lived on 10 McCrory Street in Armagh City. Was a gravedigger in France during WWI. Died 7 September 1949 and is buried in th Old St. Patrick's Graveyard.
