Johanna was married to Jeremiah P O'Connell. They ran the pub across the road from the postoffice in Kilnamartyra together. Her father, Cornelius, was the first postmaster in Kilnamartyra. Her half sister, Mary, married Robert Michael Murphy and took over the post office when Cornelius died.
