Family lore has John born 12 Jan 1787 and sailing from Belfast in 1818 to Canada with brothers Robert and Thomas.
My ancestor John married Elizabeth McCullough, also of Ireland, born 1797 or 1798. Parents and marriage location unknown for both. U.S. records confirm Ireland birth for both (despite family stories of being from Scotland), a search for land on the Canadian side of the St. Lawrence River, happenstance settling in Louisville, St. Lawrence, New York, USA, death of Elizabeth 07 Dec 1856 and of John 15 Sep 1862 in Louisville.
Stories place brother Robert in New York (state? city?) and Thomas in Virginia, but I'm unable to connect any of the myriad Alexanders of those names in those locations to John.

Y-DNA links with US males tracing to a Samuel Alexander of Limerick and Raloo. FTDNA Alexander Surname Project includes one of John's descendants in "Glasgow to PA" group.
