John Boyle was born on 3 November 1902 in Ballymaghy to Bridget Gallagher & Patrick Boyle.
He met & married Lena Boyle in St Eunan & Columba Cathedral Letterkenny on 27 April 1927. Lena's brother Philip was living and working in Kilmacrennan at the same time as John Boyle.
John & Lena Boyle remained living in Kilmacrennan until Lena died of TB on 22 July 1937 at home with her parents & siblings in Limavady. She died leaving two young sons behind (Patrick 9 yrs old and Johnnie 5 yrs old). After Lena's death, John took the boys to live with his mother in Dunfanaghy, Co Donegal.
John died 11 months after Lena on 19 June 1938 at Glenties Hospital of TB - both boys were unharmed by the TB and lived a full life in Scotland.

Hello to the poster. Part of my line has Bridget Boyle married to Patrick Deeny. I believe the family emigrated to the US ~1850, and settled in Allamakee, Iowa. Children:

James Boyle Deeny
Mary Deeny
Cornelius Boyle Deeny
Patrick Boyle Deeny Jr
Timeframes for the above are births late 1820's to mid 1840's.

I am sorry, but I have not come across the surname Deeney as yet on my family tree.
My Grandfather John Boyle's sister Bridget never married & the only other Bridget Boyle that I have was a cousin who married Charles Miller. Both ladies remained in Co Donegal until they passed away.

I have a Lena on my family tree and the hints led me to this page, Do you know if this Lena was the daughter of an Eliza McGrory who married a Patrick Boyle son of a Philip Boyle? The marriage took place on 19/10/1889 • Mountcharles, Donegal. I cant seem to find a birth record for Lena on the site I usually go to. I just want to double check before I add anything to my tree. .

If this Lena is the daughter of Eliza then yes I would be related. Im Tanya McGrory and Eliza is my 2nd great grand aunt.

Yes, you have found the correct Lena Boyle, she was indeed the daughter of Patrick Boyle and Elizabeth McGrory. Sister of Philip, Dan John et al and twin of Josephine.
The reason you cannot find Lena's birth certificate is that she was registered under a different name, quite possibly because the person registering her birth was misunderstood. She is registered as Nina Boyle alongside Josephine. They were born on 2nd June 1909 in the Townland of Letter near Clonelly, Co Fermanagh, Ireland.
Yes, it was very sad how my dad's parents died and how quickly their children became orphans.
