John James Hughes was the father of my grandfather, John Joseph Hughes, who was born in Portumna Workhouse in June 1866. The mother of the baby was Clare (Clara, Clarinda) Lynch. My grandfather at some point came to the United States. John and Clare might have had another son, Patrick. I have found no further information on the elder John, Clare, or Patrick.
