"Thanks for your reply and I'm very excited to connect with another Johnson researcher!

I don't know who my James Johnson's parents were and therefore don't have a John Johnson in my tree however there was a James Johnson who leased a house at 71 Magdalene Street in 1851 which may be my 3x great grandfather and therefore he could be connected to your Johnson family in Magdalene Street.

Can you please send me any information on your John i.e. birth year, place and parent's names?

Looking forwarding to hearing back from you."

Further to my above message, I searched for your family on Ancestry last night and found the marriage of John and Catherine and the birth entries for their 4 children.  I cannot see a connection yet however with more information I'm sure we can work it out.

My DNA test was with Ancestry and my user name is JenM1958.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

  • Hello Jen!
It's nice to hear from someone so quickly... thank you.

Just this minute, I checked your name on my DNA matches and can not find it.
I'll look into it again when I've got a James..
This morning I've subscribed to rootsireland so I expect to move forward and sideways at a pace!

In the meantime, I found this last night, which is a fantastic record of Irish people searching for missing friends and family.

The link should take you to an entry in the Boston Pilot, and shows James Johnson (Shoemaker) from Drogheda who is being searched for by his brother Philadelphia.

If that doesn't work, try this longer one.…

    Speak again soon.
    Take care.
