According to family records John was born in Cork in 1820 but there is no evidence to confirm this and very little is know about him (my3x great grandfather) prior to him coming to Australia in 1852

He was a seaman on the "Wilson Kennedy" . He deserted the ship in Sydney because he fell in love with a young passenger, Ellen Coffee. They arrived in Sydney in December 1852.

I believe John was born in Cork but have no evidence to identify which parish. John had a large family but must have never spoken about his parents or past. He made a good life as a farmer in NSW.

His death certificate lists his father as Daniel. His mother was listed as"unknown". NSW Births Deaths & Marriages Reg. No. 1897/008605.

could this be my great grandfather or related, i am the granddaughter of Daniel riordan who lived in sydeny ,i beleive he worked on the wharves and lived in paddington for quite a time , he had my mother with Margaret mary varley who lived in Kyle bay NSW At the time, Daniel lived till 1965 and is buried with my eldest sister, my older sister who met him and new him said she thought he had another family elsewhere as he came and went alot. we know nothing else about him, i have dont DNA so if anyone out there thinks we are linked let me know and i can look for you in my matches,

My 4 times Great grandfather was Daniel Riordan born County Cork in 1830?.He came to New Orleans USA in 1854.He had a son named John I have a picture and looks somewhat like your John.I wonder if related?Thanks
